Overview
Mechatronics Maintenance Technicians ensure that plant and equipment perform to the required standard to facilitate production targets regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost within High Value Manufacturing environments. Typically the work would cover a broad range of activities include installation, testing, fault finding and the on-going planned maintenance of complex automated equipment. This requires the application of a complex blend of skills, knowledge and occupational behaviours across the electrical, electronic, mechanical, fluid power and control systems disciplines.

Entry Requirements
- Employed in a trade/industry related to the apprenticeship.
You will need to find employment in a related trade/industry before applying for the apprenticeship programme you wish to complete. - A-C/9-4 GCSE in English & maths OR Level 2 functional Skills in English and maths
- Employers may request additional entry criteria
Course Structure
Induction (First six weeks)
- Programme overview/unit selection
- English and maths diagnostic – with Functional Skills support (where identified)
- Health and Safety, Equality and Diversity, Prevent and British Values
- Expectations and induction targets
- End-Point Assessment requirements
On-programme (Months 01 - 45)
- Full time College based for Year 1
- Day release delivery for year 2 & 3
- Work based year 4
- Work based assessment visits every 4 – 6 weeks from year 2 to the end of the programme
- Development of an e-portfolio of evidence Progress
- Reviews every 10 weeks Completion of the following qualifications:
- Level 2 Advanced Diploma in Advanced Engineering
- Level 2 Award for foundation phase Gateway Assessment
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)
Gateway (Months 46 - 48)
- All Skills, Knowledge & Behaviours achieved and evidenced
- Confirmation of completion of mandatory qualifications
- Submit Portfolio of evidence
- Preparation for Employer Occupational Validation Interview (Viva)
- Gateway confirmation declaration
End-point assessment (1 day during final 3 months)
(carried out by an accredited third party provider):
- Employer Occupational Validation Interview (Viva)
- Professional Engineering Institute (PEI) or Military Independent Assessment Authority (MIAA) carries out an independent assessment of Skills, Knowledge & behaviours
Certification (Final 4 - 6 weeks of programme)
- Apprenticeship with certification from the Institute of Apprenticeships.
- Certification for:
- Level 2 Advanced Diploma in Advanced Engineering
- Level 2 Award for foundation phase Gateway Assessment
- BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Technical Knowledge)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence
